Sandpoint is located in the northern tip of Idaho, at the crossroads of the major north-south route through Idaho, U.S. Highway 95, and the east-west route of U.S. Highway 2. It is 80 miles northeast of Spokane, and 352 miles east of Seattle. Boise, the state capital, is 439 miles south.

Arrive by Plane
Spokane International Airport. Located within 80 miles of Sandpoint in Spokane, Wash., this major airport provides access to flights on several airlines. Airlines serving Spokane International Airport include:

Sandpoint Airport. For private aircraft, the Sandpoint Airport provides excellent facilities, with a 5,500-foot paved runway rated up to 40,000 pounds gross weight single-wheel load. It’s located just two miles from downtown, with easy access via taxi or courtesy car.

Arrive by Train
Amtrak’s Empire Builder route arrives and departs on a daily basis at Sandpoint’s historic railroad depot on Railroad Avenue, just off of Bridge Street right downtown. The westbound train departs at 11:49 p.m., and the eastbound train departs at 1:40 a.m. Fun fact: Sandpoint is the only Amtrak stop in the entire state of Idaho!

Get Around on the SPOT Bus
Ride the SPOT bus. The Selkirks-Pend Oreille Transit – aka SPOT – runs bus routes between Sandpoint and outlying communities of Dover, Ponderay and Kootenai. There are two routes with stops at a couple dozen locations on the half hour. There’s also a connector to Schweitzer, that can be caught from the resort’s bottom lot to get dropped off right in the Schweitzer village.
